[A] Alasdair, ’ndo thréig tú an ghruaim.

[Watson, W. J. Scottish Verse from the Book of the Dean of Lismore (Scottish Gaelic Texts Society, Volume 1, Edinburgh 1937), poem 35, p. 246].

Donnchadh Mac an Phearsúin

1 Alasdair, ’ndo thréig tú an ghruaim,

nó a bhfead sibh a cur uaibh ar lár?

a nd’fhan sibh ’n bhliadhain gan ghean?

nó a mbí sibh mar sean go bráth.

2 Chaoidhche ní nd’fhuaras do ghean,

ó ataoi tú go sean liath:

más ar ghruaim bhitheas an rath,

’s mór fhuair thú de mhath ó Dhia.
